SKG Classic: Single Wave

$480.00

This bison leather messenger bag is created step-by-step, one at a time, by me in my studio. It is 100% hand-laced, using lacing that is cut out by hand. It features a 6”x8” interior pocket to hold your phone, keys, etc. The front flap of the bag showcases a beautiful section of the natural edge of the hide. This bag is built to last, and will be with you for years to come.

The sides and bottom edges of the bag feature my signature horizontal lacing stitch. Aside from accentuating the bag's sophisticated minimalism, the horizontal stitch is what holds the bag together, adding structure and flexibility.

The strap is cut from the strongest section of the hide, with a reinforced section hand-laced on to add comfort and durability.

About the Leather

My collection is made of Horween leather, tanned in Chicago by a family-owned tannery in operation since 1905. Horween has created some of the finest leathers in the industry for over 100 years. This leather is not only durable, but it will age beautifully with very little care. This bag will work hard for years, and it will just keep looking better.

About the Creation

I create each piece one at a time, and every part of a single bag is from the same animal. The pattern is laid out on the hide, making use of the best natural properties of different parts of the animal (along the back is best for the strap, the flanks and belly better for the body of the bag, the hind quarters best for lacing). Each part is then cut out by hand, and the placement of each stitch is measured and marked. Holes are punched with a hand press where each piece of the lacing with go. Finally, the pieces are laced together using long strips of hide. This bag is crafted using an ancient technique that holds bags together today just as well as it did 10,000 years ago.
